Rejuvenate Your Paint and Restore the Luster and Clarity With Paint Correction.
Paint correction refers to the process of removing imperfections (swirls, scratches, oxidation, etching, hardwater spots, etc.) from the paint to restore clarity, depth of color, and the original gloss to the vehicle. This can be multiple steps of buffing and polishing depending on the outcome desired, and ranges from an additional 2-3hrs of work up to 10+hrs of work. CCD breaks this into two categories – true paint correction versus paint ‘enhancement’ – and often performs a 1-step polishing on a few of our detail packages (it is always an additional option!), which is really just enhancing the paint and removing some minor blemishes.
Paint correction removes microscopic layers of your clear coat via compounds and polishes and a buffer/polisher, but not every scratch or blemish will be able to be removed with this process.
When to consider paint correction:
– If your vehicle’s paint is faded, dull, or lacks gloss/shine
– Has oxidation, typically on the hood, roof, and trunk
– If your car has stubborn water spots or etching that won’t come off otherwise
– Your vehicle is covered in swirl marks and minor, surface-level scratches
If the scratch catches on your fingernail, shows primer color under the paint, or shows bare metal, it will need wet sanding, touch up paint, and/or touch up with a spray gun depending on depth of scratches and damaged area
Benefits of correcting the paint:
– Restores the paint’s original glass-like smoothness, clarity and depth of color, and the dripping wet gloss look
– Minimizes and/or removes defects like swirls without having to re-paint a panel
– Removes oxidation and keeps future deterioration away
– Can increase a vehicles resale value
The cost of paint correction or enhancement can vary quite a lot depending on the desired outcome and if its the sole intention of the job or an additional service. Typically it adds anywhere from $150-300 to a job, but can range up to $1,200 or more for larger trucks and vans etc.
